Students visiting college campuses.

SHA seniors went on college tours and found them helpful in choosing their future colleges.

Around 25 seniors signed up to go to Boston University and Salem State University on Oct. 25.

There were more college tours scheduled on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 where seniors would be going to Yale University and UMass then Rhode Island University and Brown University.

College tours are for SHA seniors to explore the schools in the area and see which may be better suited for them next year.

“The college tours are an opportunity for seniors to take a look at different schools,” said college career counselor, Amanda Mills, “see if they can see themselves in that school.”

Seventeen seniors signed up for the college tours to Boston University and Salem state on Tuesday.

Senior Hannah Nguyen shared that college tours are very helpful tools.

“I love college tours because not only are they informational and important to go on to know what kind of environment you live and thrive in,” said Nguyen, “ but it also makes me excited and hopeful for my future career to come”

Senior Jayleen Toledo also shares this sentiment.

“It was good to get an idea of how the school works.” said Toledo.

Nguyen said the tours were extremely helpful. “I figure out what I look for in colleges and if it’s a right fit for me. The cost, different opportunities, programs, student organizations, starting salary after graduating, and more. These are things I expect to learn out of every college.”

Toledo also believed it to be beneficial.

“I definitely learned what schools I want to add to my list, and what schools I don’t.”

“About SHA particular college tours, I wish we’re able to stay longer sometimes to really soak everything in.” said Nguyen, “But not much you can do.

When asked if the SHA college tours were beneficial Nguyen had this to say: “Definitely. For example when I visited Hampshire College, I realized I don’t like studying in rural environments and prefer cities. Now I make sure the colleges I apply to are more urban, which I’ll be more productive in.
